March 2025 on Townscape & Architecture of Aberdyfi

Post by QuentinDeakin »

At their meeting on March 17th, the society welcomed Dr William Ault for a talk entitled The Townscape and Architecture of Aberdyfi and Tywyn. Now retired and a resident of Aberdyfi, Dr Ault's career encompassed both practical town planning and architecture, as well as teaching at university level. The presentation was extensive in its range, comparing and contrasting the two towns in terms of townscape and individual buildings. He considered the topographic constraints, the history of the towns and their changing demographics. The talk was amply illustrated and William recommended reference books for those who wished to pursue the subject. He was warmly thanked for his excellent and inspiring presentation and a lively discussion followed.
