WW2 Letters from Neptune Camp

Post by AndyBond »

I am currently going through my granddad's World War Two letters and have come across 9 that he wrote from 'Neptune Hall Camp' in July of 1942.

He was with the Pioneer Corps and was moved around quite a bit (most probably as a part of 'Western Command') , and his letters show he was most probably in Tywyn for about 2 to 3 weeks.

Is there any information about the Pioneer Corps in Tywyn - especially around the summer of 1942? (Also possibly of interest is info about the RASC as he was occasionally attached to them for building projects in other places he was posted)

Is there any information about Neptune Hall and the immediate surrounding area being used as an army camp?

And is there anything else surviving in the vicinity that may well be worth seeing and photographing?

Thanks
Andy
