Oral History Workshop led by Dr Di Drummond
The society's meeting on 18th March 2024 was a talk and workshop on the subject of oral history by Dr Di Drummond. The talk covered the history, value and techniques involved in the creation of an oral archive. It was illustrated by recorded interviews, a sample interview and highlighted good and bad interview techniques and the pitfalls of leading questions. Following the talk, the audience were invited to pair with someone they did not know well to conduct a brief, mutual interview on the subject 'My first or best job' and then to report back to the group. This participatory exercise proved popular and Di was warmly thanked for an enjoyable and instructive evening.
