Meeting on Monday June 21 on Lloyd George
Posted: Fri Jun 25, 2021 7:50 am
This was the first meeting of the new programme by Zoom, a talk entitled 'St David Up-to-Date: The Cult of Lloyd George' by Dr Neil Evans of the Harlech Historical Society. David Lloyd George was a key figure in the political history of Britain and Wales in the twentieth century. Dr Evans did full justice to his charismatic subject and to his achievements but did not ignore the complexities of his character and legacy. The talk, illustrated by contemporary photographs and cartoons, was enthusiastically received.
The next meeting by Zoom on July 19th at 7PM will continue the theme of the political history of Wales with members’ contributions.
The society plans to follow up with a summer visit to the Lloyd George museum and significant sites in the area. Dr Evans has kindly offered to lead this trip. Further details will be provided in due course.
