TDHS contributions to History Points

History Points is an excellent project to provide historical information about points of interest throughout Wales through the medium of a website and app. users' mobile phones. Phones pick up a page of the website information as they read a QR patch fixed on a post or prominent structure at a History Point site of interest. The facts provided are well researched with the assistance of local experts. Rhodri Clerk, the editor of History Points, is based in the north of Wales, and has already produced virtual trails for the whole of Wales. He recently came down to Tywyn and Aberdyfi, where he met Quentin Deakin, TDHS secretary, who was keen to see the work in development. Quentin has contributed material on the amphibious base at Neptune Hall and a full page on Tonfanau camp; TDHS has agreed to QR patches being attached to its boards where appropriate. TDHS sees initiatives such as History Points as complementary to the more traditional HIstory Trail and where they are both of the highest quality, these are two of the best way to introduce visitors and local people to the historical heritage and connections of an area.
